This paper revisits Under the Sign of the Rising Sun (1964), one of holy Prof. Dr. Bernard Nsokika Fonlon’s most profound reflections on leadership, moral integrity, and ideological renewal in post-independence Cameroon. Writing at a time when the newly federated state stood at a historical crossroads, holy Fonlon called for a politics rooted in principle rather than personality, merit rather than favoritism, and unity rather than factionalism. This study critically analyzes holy Fonlon’s vision of political ethics and civil service discipline, situating his thought within the broader framework of African political philosophy and moral leadership.
