"Cultural Resilience and Symbolic Power: A Systemic Analysis of Bamum Doorposts in the Grassfields Region of Cameroon"
Abstract This article examines the Bamum doorposts from Cameroon’s Grassfields region, currently housed in Berlin’s Humboldt Forum, through a systemic and interdisciplinary lens. While the analysis focuses on the Bamum, it acknowledges the cultural continuity of similar artifacts across the Grassfields region. The study explores how these doorposts embody power, identity, and spiritual connection, while also addressing the ethical implications of their colonial acquisition and display. Drawing on systemic coaching, cultural mediation, and postcolonial theory, this article highlights the role of such artifacts in fostering resilience and intercultural dialogue, particularly for migrant and diaspora communities. Keywords: Bamum doorposts, Grassfields region, cultural resilience, colonial restitution, systemic coaching, intercultural mediation
