Rev. Fr. Humphrey Tatah Mbuy argues that nonviolence is not surrender to evil but an active, courageous commitment to justice. Drawing on Pacem in Terris, Gandhi, Catholic social teaching and Cardinal Koovakad’s 2026 Ahimsa Day message, he shows that violence breeds further violence, trauma and loss, as seen in Cameroon’s Anglophone crisis and conflicts worldwide. He proposes three nonviolent paths: educating citizens about their power and responsibility, teaching peaceful ways to confront injustice, and recognising the Church as a buffer zone for dialogue, protection and reconciliation. Peace, he concludes, speaks the language of justice. Compiled and edited by Edward Dzerinyuy Bello.
